A top M&E consultancy in Waterford is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its growing Building Services team.

The Opportunity
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects from concept through to completion. You will work closely with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop practical, efficient and sustainable engineering solutions.
This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects, mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued growth of an established and respected consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and coordination of building services projects through all design stages.
- Produce high-quality engineering calculations, reports, specifications and technical documentation.
- Develop practical, innovative and cost-effective mechanical engineering solutions tailored to client requirements.
- Coordinate closely with electrical, structural, civil and architectural teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Attend client meetings, design reviews, site visits and project coordination meetings.
- Carry out site inspections and provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
- Manage project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables within agreed timescales.
- Identify technical challenges and provide effective engineering solutions.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, graduates and technicians.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors and project stakeholders.
- Contribute to maintaining high technical standards and continuous improvement across the business.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience delivering mechanical building services projects within a consultancy environment.
- Proven ability to lead projects from concept through to completion.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, public health, heating, cooling and ventilation system design.
- Experience producing technical calculations, reports and specifications.
- Good working knowledge of relevant Irish and international design standards.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to manage project budgets and programmes.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership is desirable.
