Senior Electrical Engineer

A top M&E consultancy in Waterford is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join its expanding Building Services team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer looking to take ownership of projects, mentor junior engineers and play a key role in delivering innovative and sustainable electrical building services solutions.

The Role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design and coordination of electrical building services projects from concept through to completion. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients and contractors, you will ensure projects are delivered to the highest technical standards, on programme and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of electrical building services projects across all design stages.
• Produce detailed electrical calculations, technical reports, specifications and engineering documentation.
• Design a range of electrical systems, including:
• MV/LV power distribution
• Lighting and emergency lighting
• Small power systems
• Fire alarm systems
• Data and communications
• Security, CCTV and access control systems
• Building Management Systems (BMS)
• Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, civil and architectural disciplines.
• Attend client meetings, design reviews and multidisciplinary coordination meetings.
• Carry out site inspections, surveys and commissioning reviews to ensure installations meet project requirements.
• Manage technical deliverables, project programmes and budgets.
• Identify engineering risks and develop practical, commercially focused solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to graduate and intermediate engineers.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors and project stakeholders.
• Contribute to maintaining technical excellence and continuous improvement across the engineering team.

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience delivering electrical building services projects within a consultancy environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services systems and current industry standards.
• Experience designing power, lighting, fire alarm, data, security and BMS systems.
• Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as Amtech, ProDesign, Dialux/Relux and AutoCAD. Revit experience is advantageous.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
• Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to manage project budgets and programmes.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership is desirable.
