A well-established and growing MEP consultancy is looking to appoint a Sustainability Engineer to join its multidisciplinary team.
The consultancy has built a strong reputation for delivering energy-efficient, sustainable and technically innovative buildings across Ireland. Working closely with clients, architects and wider design teams, the business provides practical sustainability solutions tailored to the requirements of each project.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Sustainability Engineer who wants to work on a diverse range of projects while developing their technical expertise within a collaborative consultancy environment.
The Role
As a Sustainability Engineer, you will support the delivery of energy and sustainability strategies across a range of building projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing sustainability and energy engineering advice from concept through to completion.Carrying out energy assessments and building performance analysis.Supporting the development of low-energy and low-carbon building solutions.Working closely with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to integrate sustainability strategies into building designs.Undertaking energy modelling and building performance assessments.Advising clients and design teams on energy efficiency and carbon reduction opportunities.Supporting compliance with relevant Irish building regulations and energy performance requirements.Assisting with sustainability assessments and certification processes.Preparing technical reports, calculations and sustainability documentation.Reviewing designs and identifying opportunities to improve building performance.Supporting the development of renewable energy and low-carbon technologies within projects.Attending design meetings, workshops and site visits where required.Working collaboratively with architects, engineers, contractors and other project stakeholders.Keeping up to date with changes in legislation, standards and emerging sustainability technologies.Supporting junior engineers and contributing to the continued development of the sustainability team.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
A degree in Sustainability, Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.Experience working within an engineering consultancy, sustainability consultancy or building services environment.Practical experience in building energy performance and sustainability.Knowledge of Irish building regulations and energy efficiency requirements.Experience with energy modelling and relevant sustainability software.An understanding of low-carbon building design and renewable energy technologies.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.Strong report writing and technical documentation skills.A genuine interest in sustainable building design and decarbonisation.Experience with sustainability accreditation systems such as LEED, BREEAM or WELL would be advantageous.
