Mechanical Engineer

We are working with a top Irish building services consultancy seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join its expanding engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of technically challenging projects across sectors including commercial, healthcare, education, residential, life sciences and data centres. You will join a collaborative multidisciplinary team focused on delivering innovative, energy-efficient and sustainable building solutions.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

Designing mechanical building services from initial concept through to detailed design and constructionDeveloping HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, water services and drainage designsProducing technical calculations, specifications, reports and tender documentationPreparing and reviewing mechanical drawings, schedules and BIM modelsCarrying out heating and cooling load calculationsSelecting and specifying mechanical plant and equipmentCoordinating mechanical services with electrical, architectural and structural disciplinesAttending client, design-team and project meetingsSupporting projects during tender and construction stagesConducting site inspections and reviewing contractor installationsEnsuring designs comply with relevant Irish building regulations and technical standardsContributing to energy-efficient, low-carbon and sustainable design solutions

Your Experience

The successful candidate should have:

A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related disciplinePrevious experience in mechanical building services designExperience working within an engineering consultancy or similar design environmentKnowledge of HVAC, public health and mechanical services systemsFamiliarity with Irish building regulations and relevant industry standardsExperience using relevant mechanical design and calculation softwareRevit and AutoCAD experience would be beneficialStrong communication, coordination and problem-solving skillsThe ability to manage priorities and work effectively within a multidisciplinary teamAn interest in sustainable and low-energy building designProgress towards Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous
