Role Overview
ATG are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Technician to join an engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality technical drawings and 3D models to support the design and delivery of marine infrastructure projects.
This role will work closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure designs meet technical, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for marine infrastructure projects (ports, harbours, coastal defences, offshore structures, etc.).
- Work with engineers to develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design drawings.
- Maintain drawing standards, templates, and project documentation in line with company and industry best practices.
- Support the preparation of construction drawings, as-built drawings, and technical reports.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate design inputs and resolve technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards in all design outputs.
- Assist in digital design development, including BIM integration where applicable.
Skills & Qualifications
- Qualification in Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering Technology, CAD Design, or related field (Level 6+).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential); experience with Civil 3D, Revit, or other BIM software is an advantage.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a CAD technician role, ideally in civil, structural, or marine infrastructure projects.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under deadlines.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings, construction processes, and technical standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of marine or coastal engineering is desirable but not essential (training will be provided).
