Overview

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to support the delivery of a major high-voltage substation construction project in Finland. The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate civil engineering activities throughout the construction phase, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Working closely with project management, construction teams and subcontractors, the Civil Engineer will be responsible for managing site activities, reviewing designs, monitoring progress and resolving technical challenges to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate civil construction activities on site.
• Review and interpret civil drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Monitor earthworks, foundations, drainage, roads, duct banks and reinforced concrete structures.
• Ensure construction activities comply with project specifications, local regulations and quality requirements.
• Support planning and sequencing of civil works to maintain project schedules.
• Coordinate subcontractors and ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently.
• Conduct site inspections and quality assurance checks.
• Identify and resolve engineering and construction issues.
• Review contractor method statements, risk assessments and technical submissions.
• Monitor project progress and prepare regular reports for project management.
• Liaise with electrical, commissioning and engineering teams to ensure effective multidisciplinary coordination.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements at all times.
• Participate in site meetings, progress reviews and client discussions as required.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 3–8 years of experience in infrastructure, energy, industrial or heavy civil construction projects.
• Experience managing earthworks, foundations, concrete structures and underground services.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies and site management practices.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience working with contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Fluent English language skills.
