Civil Engineer – HV Substation Projects (Finland / Norway)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to join a leading EPC contractor delivering high-voltage substation projects across Finland and Norway. The role will support the delivery of major greenfield substations that power hyperscale data centres across the Nordics, ensuring all civil works are completed safely, on programme and to the highest quality standards.

This is a site-based position offering a competitive rotation package, long-term project pipeline, and the opportunity to work on some of Europe's most significant power infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate all civil engineering activities on site throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure civil works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, drawings and quality standards.
• Supervise subcontractors carrying out earthworks, foundations, drainage, roads, cable trenches, retaining structures and concrete works.
• Review construction drawings, technical specifications and method statements.
• Monitor project progress and report on programme, productivity and potential risks.
• Coordinate closely with electrical, mechanical and commissioning teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Carry out site inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with design and client requirements.
• Manage RFIs, technical queries and resolve engineering issues on site.
• Ensure all works are completed in accordance with HSE regulations and company procedures.
• Support planning, scheduling and resource allocation for civil activities.
• Attend site meetings with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
• Assist with project documentation, progress reporting and final handover.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering civil works on large infrastructure or industrial construction projects.
• Previous experience working on HV substation, transmission, utility, energy or data centre projects is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of earthworks, reinforced concrete, drainage, roads and underground services.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors on live construction sites.
• Strong knowledge of quality assurance and HSE standards.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Fluent English is essential.
• Previous experience working in Europe or the Nordics is advantageous.
• EU passport or unrestricted right to work in Europe is preferred.
