Civil Engineer – Transport Infrastructure

The Role
An established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Civil Engineer with a transport infrastructure background to join its growing Cork office. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants to work on high-profile public sector projects and progress their career within a collaborative, design-focused environment.
The successful candidate will become part of a well-resourced transport and infrastructure team delivering projects across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and preliminary design through to detailed design and construction support.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the planning, design, and delivery of transport and civil infrastructure projects
Work on projects delivered under Public Works Contracts, supporting compliance and technical reporting
Prepare design drawings, technical reports, and supporting documentation
Liaise with senior engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders including local authorities and contractors
Contribute to multidisciplinary project teams across roads, active travel, junction design, and urban infrastructure
Support construction stage activities, including responses to RFIs and design clarifications
Ensure designs comply with relevant Irish and UK standards, guidelines, and best practice
Requirements
Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
3+ years post-graduate experience in civil or transport infrastructure design
Previous experience working on public sector projects
Familiarity with Public Works Contracts or public authority-led projects
Experience using industry-standard design software (Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or similar)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively within a team environment and manage competing priorities
Desirable (but not essential)
Experience on road schemes, active travel, junction upgrades, or urban infrastructure projects
Exposure to multidisciplinary project delivery
Working knowledge of Irish design standards and guidance
