Our client is a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy delivering some of the largest and most complex public infrastructure and energy projects in Ireland and the UK. Due to continued growth driven by national investment in grid expansion and energy transition, they are now seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their expanding Energy & Power team.
The Role
Reporting to a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will support the delivery of a growing portfolio of energy and power infrastructure projects, working within a highly experienced, collaborative engineering environment.
Current and upcoming projects include:
- Electrification of commuter rail networks, including grid extensions and substations
- Grid connections for private energy developers
- High-voltage cable diversions to support major transport infrastructure
- Planning and design of new transmission and distribution substations
- This role offers excellent exposure to power systems, HV infrastructure, and national grid projects, with clear progression opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and delivery of energy and power infrastructure projects
- Contribute to power system planning, protection, transmission and distribution design
- Assist with HV cable systems, substations and grid connection works
- Prepare technical reports, drawings and supporting documentation
- Work in accordance with quality procedures and project controls
- Collaborate closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Level 8 or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification experience in energy or power-related projects
Experience in design or construction of:
- Wind or solar farms
- HV substations
- HV cable systems
- Working knowledge of EirGrid and ESB standards
- Strong report-writing and documentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Strong teamwork skills and proactive work ethic
Desirable Experience
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Level 9)
- Specialisation in power systems or HV engineering
- AutoCAD proficiency
- Experience in substation primary or secondary design
- HV cable design experience
- Wind or solar project exposure
