We are currently working with a growing, independent transport planning consultancy with a passion for creating sustainable, practical, and data-driven transport solutions. Working with both public and private sector clients, they provide expert advice on all aspects of transport planning from development planning and transport assessments to sustainable travel strategies and traffic modelling.

As a small-to-medium sized firm, they pride ourselves on offering a friendly, supportive, and collaborative environment where every team member can make a real impact.

The Role

They are looking for a Graduate Transport Planner to join our dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate to begin a rewarding career in transport planning and to gain hands-on experience across a variety of exciting projects.

You’ll work closely with senior planners and engineers to deliver transport assessments, travel plans, junction modelling, accessibility studies, and development-related transport advice. You’ll also have the opportunity to liaise with clients and local authorities, giving you early exposure to the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans
  • Analyse traffic, parking, and travel data using tools such as Excel, TRICS, TEMPro, and GIS
  • Support in the use of junction modelling software (e.g. Junctions 10, LinSig, VISSIM)
  • Prepare clear and concise technical reports and drawings
  • Contribute to site access and layout design reviews
  • Support the team in responding to planning consultations and liaising with local authorities
  • Help develop sustainable and active travel strategies for new developments

About You

  • Educated to degree level in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning, or a related discipline
  • Enthusiastic about transport and sustainability
  • Confident with numbers, data analysis, and technical writing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word (experience with AutoCAD, GIS, or modelling software is an advantage)
  • A good communicator, both written and verbal
  • Organised, proactive, and keen to learn
