We are working on behalf of a highly regarded, multidisciplinary consultancy that is seeking an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join its growing transport planning team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional looking to take a lead role on high-profile development and infrastructure projects across the UK.
As a Senior Transport Planner, you will play a key role in delivering transport planning inputs for a wide range of projects, from early feasibility through to planning submission and delivery. You will work closely with clients, local authorities, and internal project teams, while mentoring junior staff and contributing to business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage transport planning projects from inception to completion
- Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, and technical notes
- Provide strategic transport advice to clients and project teams
- Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and external consultants
- Support and mentor junior members of the team
- Contribute to bids, fee proposals, and business development activities
- Ensure high technical quality and timely delivery of work
About You
- Degree qualified in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in transport planning (consultancy background preferred)
- Strong technical capability in development-led transport planning
- Experience engaging with local authorities and key stakeholders
- Working knowledge of industry guidance and standards (e.g. DfT, IHT, TfL)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Progress toward or achievement of professional chartership (CIHT, TPS or similar) is desirable
