Health & Safety Officer

Key Responsibilities

• Promote a strong health & safety culture across the data centre site
• Conduct risk assessments, method statement (RAMS) reviews, and permit-to-work controls
• Monitor and audit contractor activities, ensuring compliance with site rules and legislation
• Carry out site inspections, safety tours, and toolbox talks
• Support electrical safety, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), working at height, and confined spaces procedures
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; implement corrective actions
• Maintain accurate H&S documentation, reports, and registers
• Support fire safety, emergency response, and business continuity planning
• Assist with internal and external audits (e.g. ISO 45001)

Essential Requirements

• NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
• Proven experience in data centres, critical infrastructure, M&E, or construction environments
• Strong working knowledge of health & safety legislation and best practice
• Experience managing contractors and subcontractors
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work in live operational environments with strict safety controls

Desirable

• NEBOSH Construction Certificate
• Experience working in live data centre environments
• Knowledge of HV systems, UPS, generators, HVAC, or critical plant
• IOSH or IEMA membership
• Familiarity with CDM Regulations
