We’re looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to join a delivery team on a major data centre project in Frankfurt. You’ll support the mechanical package from design coordination through installation, commissioning and handover—working closely with the Project Manager, construction teams, specialist subcontractors, and client stakeholders.
This is a hands-on, site-focused role where you’ll drive quality, programme, safety, and technical compliance across critical mechanical systems.
Key responsibilities
- Support delivery of the mechanical scope across HVAC, chilled water / DX, ventilation, pipework, and associated BMS interfaces.
- Coordinate with design teams to manage technical queries (RFIs), design clarifications, and revisions.
- Review and manage submittals: method statements, ITPs, technical submissions, shop drawings, as-builts, O&M manuals.
- Assist with procurement and vendor coordination for mechanical plant and equipment (e.g., chillers, CRAH/CRAC, pumps, AHUs).
- Monitor installation progress on site, ensuring alignment to programme milestones and reporting on constraints/risks.
- Drive quality assurance: inspections, test packs, snagging, witnessing of tests, and closure of NCRs.
- Support commissioning planning and execution including pre-commissioning checks, functional testing, and integrated systems testing (IST) readiness.
- Interface with electrical, CSA, controls/BMS and commissioning teams to manage system integration.
- Ensure compliance with HSE, local regulations, and client standards; promote safe systems of work.
- Produce clear project documentation: weekly reports, lookaheads, progress updates, and technical trackers.
What we’re looking for
- Degree / HND / apprenticeship background in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- Experience delivering mechanical building services packages on complex projects—data centres, pharma, hospitals, or large commercial preferred.
- Understanding of mission critical requirements: redundancy concepts (N+1/2N), uptime, commissioning discipline, structured handover.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC and hydronic systems, equipment selection intent, and installation best practice.
- Confidence working with subcontractors and consultants; capable of coordinating multiple interfaces.
- Good documentation habits and comfort with technical trackers and reporting
What you’ll get
Work on a flagship Frankfurt data centre programme with a strong pipeline of mission critical projects.
Competitive salary / day rate + allowances (travel, accommodation if relevant).
Clear progression opportunities across engineering, package management, commissioning, or project management.
