Our client, a well-established medium-sized main contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering public sector projects, is looking to appoint a Junior Estimator to join their growing pre-construction team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious estimator to develop their career with a contractor that has a strong pipeline of education, healthcare and other public sector projects. Working alongside experienced senior professionals, you'll gain exposure to the full tendering process while playing a key role in securing future work.
The Role
As a Junior Estimator, you will support the preparation and submission of competitive tenders for a range of public sector projects. You'll work closely with the estimating and commercial teams, assisting with cost planning, subcontractor enquiries and tender analysis while developing your technical and commercial knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing competitive tenders for public sector construction projects.
- Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Issue subcontractor and supplier enquiries and analyse returned quotations.
- Prepare take-offs and cost estimates.
- Support the preparation of pricing documents and tender submissions.
- Liaise with the commercial, design and project delivery teams throughout the tender process.
- Help identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions.
Requirements
- Degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in estimating or quantity surveying within the construction industry is desirable.
- Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with estimating software experience being advantageous.
- Eager to learn and develop within a fast-paced main contractor environment.
