Junior Mechanical Engineer – Building Services Consultancy | Cork
Our client is a growing Building Services Engineering consultancy recognised for delivering high-quality Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) design solutions across a diverse mix of project sectors. With an experienced leadership team and a strong focus on innovation, digital design, and sustainability, this firm prides itself on its collaborative culture and its commitment to developing the next generation of engineering talent.
Working with advanced engineering technologies—including BIM, energy-efficient design methodologies, and modern mechanical system modelling—the consultancy partners with clients across residential, commercial, healthcare, hospitality, mixed-use and public-sector developments.
As the team continues to expand, they are now seeking a motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer to join their Cork office.
The Role: Junior Mechanical Engineer
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with senior engineers and gain hands-on experience across all stages of mechanical design. You will play an active role in developing mechanical building systems and contributing to the delivery of high-quality engineering projects.
This is an excellent step for a graduate or early-career engineer looking to accelerate their learning within a supportive, forward-thinking consultancy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design of mechanical building systems (HVAC, public health, heating & cooling, ventilation, etc.)
- Support the production of drawings, reports, calculations, and specifications
- Work with senior engineers to develop BIM and 3D models
- Contribute to energy-efficient and sustainable design solutions
- Assist with site visits, inspections, and design reviews
- Participate in project meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Continually develop technical skills through training and mentorship
About You:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline
- Keen interest in building services and sustainable design
- Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or IES (advantageous but not essential)
- Strong willingness to learn and take direction
- Good communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
