Mechanical Project Manager – Data Centre ConstructionAbout the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join a leading engineering contractor delivering hyperscale data centre projects across Europe. You will be responsible for leading the mechanical package from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of all mechanical works on large-scale data centre projects.
• Manage the mechanical package from design coordination through installation, commissioning and client handover.
• Coordinate mechanical subcontractors, suppliers and site teams to ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently.
• Monitor project programme, costs, quality and productivity to ensure project milestones are achieved.
• Review mechanical drawings, specifications and technical submissions.
• Coordinate with electrical, CSA and commissioning teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Chair progress meetings and provide regular reports to senior management and the client.
• Manage procurement schedules, material deliveries and resource planning.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards and HSE requirements.
• Oversee testing, commissioning and final snagging of mechanical systems.
• Manage project documentation, change control and commercial awareness throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Proven experience managing mechanical packages on large construction projects.
• Previous experience delivering data centres, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, mission-critical or other complex industrial projects is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water systems, cooling infrastructure, pipework, ventilation, public health and mechanical plant.
• Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Excellent understanding of commissioning processes and project handover.
• Strong commercial awareness and programme management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Fluent English is essential.
• Willingness to work on site and travel where required.
