The Role
Supply Chain Strategy and Planning
- Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain and procurement strategy aligned with business objectives
- Analyse market trends, supply risks and demand patterns to support strategic decision-making
- Collaborate with senior leadership to support long-term operational and growth plans
- Lead, develop and mentor procurement team members
Supplier Relationship Management
- Rationalise and manage approved supplier base
- Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships to ensure quality, cost and continuity of supply
- Negotiate supplier contracts and commercial terms
- Evaluate, qualify and onboard new suppliers in line with performance and sustainability objectives
Procurement and Inventory Management
- Oversee all purchasing and inventory control activities
- Implement procurement strategies for raw materials, components and subassemblies
- Forecast material requirements based on production and sales plans
- Optimise inventory levels to balance availability, cost and efficiency
Supply Chain Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks
- Develop and implement contingency and business continuity plans
- Conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective actions
- Establish secondary and alternative suppliers to protect supply continuity
- Support strategic sourcing initiatives for manufacturing operations
Supply Chain Performance and Analytics
- Define, monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Analyse supply chain data to identify improvement opportunities and cost efficiencies
- Use data-driven insights to optimise processes and performance
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards, including ISO programs
Sustainability and Environmental Impact
- Integrate sustainability principles into procurement and supply chain activities
- Collaborate with suppliers on sustainable sourcing and waste reduction initiatives
- Monitor and report on supply chain sustainability performance
RequirementsKnowledge
- Strong knowledge of purchasing and inventory control practices
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles
- Hands-on experience with MRP systems
- ERP system experience essential
Skills & Abilities
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Proven leadership and people management capability
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and matrix environments
- Strong IT skills, including ERP systems and Microsoft Office
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement management
- Experience working in an international organisation
- Previous experience in a lean manufacturing environment
