Role Purpose

We are seeking a Design Project Engineer to take ownership of electrical and mechanical design elements across high-profile construction and engineering projects. In this role, you’ll translate complex technical requirements into innovative, practical, and buildable solutions — ensuring design integrity, efficiency, and compliance from concept through to completion.

You’ll collaborate closely with clients, consultants, and project teams to deliver designs that meet technical standards, budget constraints, and programme targets. This is a role for an engineer who thrives on problem-solving, precision, and pushing design excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering

Develop and coordinate detailed electrical and/or mechanical designs for industrial, commercial, and data centre projects.

Produce and review technical drawings, schematics, and design documentation.

Ensure designs comply with industry regulations, client specifications, and project standards.

Carry out design risk assessments and propose safe, efficient solutions.

Work with BIM, CAD, and other design software to deliver accurate, integrated models.

Project Delivery

Support the Project Manager in planning, coordination, and technical decision-making.

Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and design partners to ensure timely delivery of design packages.

Review and approve equipment submittals and material specifications.

Provide engineering input during installation, testing, and commissioning stages.

Ensure smooth handover from design to construction phases.

Collaboration & Communication

Attend design and coordination meetings with clients and project stakeholders.

Communicate design intent clearly to multidisciplinary teams.

Support junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.

Identify opportunities for value engineering and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).

5+ years’ experience in a design engineering role within the construction, data centre, or industrial sector.

Strong technical knowledge of LV/MV/HV electrical systems or mechanical services.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, or similar design software.

Excellent understanding of industry standards, regulations, and codes of practice.

Proven ability to manage multiple design packages and meet tight deadlines.

Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
