Access are currently working with a growing and ambitious transport consultancy based in Bristol, with an expanding portfolio across the South West. Their team thrives on collaboration, innovation, and providing trusted advice to clients across both the public and private sectors. As they continue to grow, we're looking for a Senior or Principal Transport Planner who is ready to step into a client-facing role and play a key part in shaping the future of transport in the region.

The Role

As a Senior or Principal Transport Planner, you’ll take the lead on delivering a variety of transport planning projects – from development planning and transport assessments to strategic transport studies and sustainable mobility plans.

You’ll have the autonomy to manage your own clients, and the opportunity to develop new relationships as we grow our presence in the South West. You’ll mentor junior staff, contribute to business development, and play a hands-on role in shaping our team's future direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver transport planning projects across the South West
  • Manage client relationships and develop new business opportunities
  • Prepare and review technical reports, including transport assessments and travel plans
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, planners, and environmental specialists
  • Mentor and support junior team members
  • Represent the company at meetings, presentations, and public consultations

About You:

  • Proven experience in transport planning, ideally in consultancy
  • Strong technical understanding of transport modelling, development planning, and sustainable transport solutions
  • Comfortable in a client-facing role and motivated to grow client relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership with a relevant institution (CIHT, ICE, TPS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of South West regional transport policies is a plus
  • Based in or willing to travel regularly to Bristol

What We Offer:

  • A dynamic and supportive team environment
  • Real influence in shaping the future of our growing consultancy
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Flexible/hybrid working arrangements
  • Continuous professional development and support towards Chartership
  • A chance to work on high-impact projects that make a difference
