The Technical Director – Civils will lead the technical and engineering functions of the business, ensuring best-in-class design, delivery, and compliance across all civil projects. The role requires strong leadership, commercial acumen, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic technical leadership for all civil engineering activities.
  • Oversee project design, engineering, and technical delivery to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with Irish and EU standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering and project management teams.
  • Act as the company’s technical authority on civil engineering matters.
  • Support business development with technical input for tenders, bids, and client presentations.
  • Ensure effective risk management, value engineering, and innovation are applied across projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, consultants, and contractors.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery, sustainability, and digital engineering (e.g., BIM).
  • Represent the company at industry forums, regulatory discussions, and professional networks.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (Chartered Engineer status essential).
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in civil engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership/technical director role.
  • Proven track record in delivering complex infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, utilities, or marine works).
  • Strong knowledge of Irish building regulations, health & safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, people management, and team development skills.
  • Commercial awareness and experience working with contracts such as NEC and FIDIC.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
