Transport Design Engineer

Overview

A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Transport Design Engineer with 3–5 years' experience to join its growing Dublin transportation team. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and delivery of a wide range of highways, active travel, public transport and urban infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients across Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake geometric design of highways, junctions and active travel schemes.
• Prepare road layouts, alignments, cross-sections and construction drawings
• Produce technical reports, design calculations and specifications.Assist with the delivery of transportation, streetscape and public realm projects.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including drainage, structures and environmental specialists.
• Support planning applications, preliminary design and detailed design stages.
• Liaise with clients, local authorities and statutory stakeholders.
• Ensure designs comply with TII, DMURS, DMRB and relevant Irish standards.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Approximately 3–5 years' experience within a transport or civil engineering consultancy.
• Experience delivering highways, roads or active travel design projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Knowledge of TII standards, DMURS and DMRB.
• Strong communication and report-writing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable Experience

• Working towards Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland or ICE.
• Experience with junction design software such as AutoTURN or Vehicle Tracking.
• Familiarity with drainage coordination and utility design.
• Experience supporting projects through planning and detailed design.
• Knowledge of BIM workflows and digital engineering practices.
